Jeannine opened the meeting and attendees introduced themselves.

Program

Bill Murphy of Carroll County Toastmasters gave a presentation on "How to give a great technical presentation"

Committee Reports

Ambassador
Mike Shelah acknowledged Kurt Hider, Carroll County Veterans Representative as a first time guest; Jeremy Krug Communication Electronics; Frank Norris, PNC Bank; Sylvia Canon; Douglas Heck introduced Larry Wood, who is now working with InfoPathways and retired from AT&T.
CompuKids
Jeannine announced a CompuKids workday on March 29th to load software.
Golf
The 2008 outing will be held on May 15th at The Links at Challedon. Sponsorships including Platinum, Gold and Hole sponsorships are now available.

By participating you will receive membership value, fun, and help to support CTC fundraising. Golf is from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm followed by a barbeque picnic from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The cost of the barbeque is only $25.00. Volunteers are needed to sell sponsorships and foursomes with a goal of 120 golfers.
Education
Denise announced the Business Applications of QuickBooks Pro class will be held March 25 and 27th 6 - 9 pm at Carroll Community College, Room M152. Classes are free and are for members only. See Jeannine to register.
Event/Committee Reports:
Jeannine sent out committee information to all members with an opt-in/opt-out to keep committees functioning smoothly. Members were encouraged to join a committee of interest.
Technology Advisory Committee
A Communications Seminar is to be held on April 3, 2008 6-8 pm at the Non-profit Center. It will be taped by CMC and shown on Channel 19. Jeannine thanked Martin Pukownik for taping and airing the show. Douglas Heck is the new TAC committee chairman.
Website
Fran said work is continuing on the on-line event registration feature. Members should continue to send news to Fran to be posted on the website.
Westminster City Tech Task Force
Tom Canon said the City of Westminster is moving forward with several projects including working on an intranet, utility billing, planning for fiber optic network installation and deploying remote access in police vehicles.
Tech Council Trivia Contest Winner
This month's winner is Karen Delahanty. The question was "Who won the putting contest in the golf tournament?" The answer was Wally Brown of Skyline Network Engineering, LLC.

Member Announcements

  • Westminster Fallfest dinner is on Sat April 12th. See Jeannine or Tom Canon if you want to attend.
  • Christine Plater from Maryland Division of Small Business offered a state technology professional to help with small business assessments. She mentioned assistance is also available from the local SBDC and Economic Development offices. MD DBED is hiring three other positions and offers services for succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, and financing your operation.
  • Rich Waganer announced the Waganer Digital Video Open House at their new 5,000 sq. ft facility is on April 3 from 5-9 pm.
  • Bob Cage said that the local Katrina Relief group will be travelling to Mississippi again on May 19th.
  • Karen Delahanty of Computertots said she is looking for new instructors. Please refer any candidates to her directly.
