General Announcements
- Introductions
Jeannine opened the meeting with member introductions and posed the following question: "What recent trend or advance in technology is having the most impact on your industry or business, and why?"
We learned the following technology trends are impacting member industries: wireless technology; development of energy saving controls, new software programs, web-based monitoring systems, VoIP, technology integration into every product area, virtualization and consolidation, growth of online learning, use of LCD's to communicate information, electronic polling in the classroom, SIM Man and SIM Baby used in healthcare education, development of technology tools to reach out to customers, data storage capacity is getting larger and smaller at the same time (more data on smaller devices).
We really do live in an ever changing world.
- New Member Welcome
- Jeannine welcomed new member Steve Berbes, Comcast and Jeff Atkinson, Freedom Digital Video.
- Alissa Harrington Recognized for CTC Work and Service
- Alissa and her family are moving to Roanoke, VA. Alissa was presented with a framed Certificate of Appreciation for her CTC program work and for her service as CTC Secretary.
- Denise Beaver Appointed New CTC Secretary
- At the July 10th Board of Directors meeting, Denise was appointed secretary to fill term vacated by Alissa Harrington.
Committee Reports
- Compukids
- The CompuKids program has been restructured to maximize volunteer and staff time
and resources. Donations dates are set 4x a year and computer preparation days in advance
of those dates. Upcoming CompuKids dates:
- Friday, August 3rd, 10:00 a.m.
Volunteers needed to help transport 400 computers from Montgomery County. - CompuKids WorkDay, Saturday, August 18th, 9:00 a.m.
- Friday, August 24th, 1:00 p.m. CompuKids Prep/Setup Day
- Saturday, August 25th, 10:00 a.m. CompuKids Donation Day
- Friday, August 3rd, 10:00 a.m.
- Technology Advisory Committee
- Meeting will be held following CTC meeting. New date for Council of Governments' presentation TBD.
Member Announcements
- Bobby Keller announced that he sold his business and is now working under contract with CCPS.
- Alissa announced that the CCPS School Foundation needs help with their website. Contact Robin Kable at 410-751-3468.
- Judy announced there is a joint BNI/CTC networking opportunity on Thursday, July 19 from 4-7 pm at the Green Turtle in Mt. Airy.
